Do I have to have this analysis done to be accepted as a blood donor at SafeBlood?

No. Until recently, there was no way to verify your “vaccination” status: You confirm your status when you sign up as a member, and we just take it on faith that you’re telling us the truth. After all, you too want to have uncontaminated blood if you ever need it. So why should we distrust you.

However, since there are also other transmission routes, unvaccinated members can have transmission of mRNA residues in their blood. This is where our analysis comes in very handy. As this analysis is very new, we will initially have very few members with the green SafeBlood seal (💚) indicating that you have successfully completed the analysis, and as the analysis is not cheap either, we cannot force you to do it. But should you ever need blood, you’ll be happy to get it from any SafeBlood member as you can be sure it’s unvaccinated, by self-declaration, meaning their blood is certainly the much better option than a blood bag from the Red Cross blood bank.

Yes, in an ideal world every member would have done the analysis, but in an ideal world our organization wouldn’t even be necessary. So we always choose the best option we can at the moment. If we had waited until we found ideal conditions, there wouldn’t be a SafeBlood organization at all.
